The finding and its boundary

The authors reported collateral-pathway activation and reduced injury-related disturbances. The experiment does not establish clinical management of acute bowel ischemia.

What was actually tested

Rats with permanent superior mesenteric artery ligation. The investigators measured collateral circulation, pressure, thrombosis and organ lesions. The authors reported collateral-pathway activation and reduced injury-related disturbances.

The detail that changes the takeaway

An artery and a vein cannot be exchanged in the title of a vascular study. This model concerns interrupted arterial supply close to the aorta. Observing alternative pathways in a rat is an early mechanistic result, not proof that an equivalent rescue is possible in a patient with different anatomy or disease.

How far the result travels

The experiment does not establish clinical management of acute bowel ischemia.

A useful comparison

BPC-157 and duodenal injury after vein ligation examines vessel presentation, mucosal injury, congestion and oxidative markers. Here, the measured endpoint was collateral circulation, pressure, thrombosis and organ lesions. Those outcomes belong to separate experiments; one is not a replication or a human confirmation of the other. Compare that distinction with the BPC-157 and experimental pancreatitis: many organ measurements are still one rat model appraisal.

BPC-157 and duodenal injury after vein ligation

A specialized surgical vascular model is not evidence for routine gut symptoms or human treatment.

BPC-157 and experimental pancreatitis: many organ measurements are still one rat model

The 2022 paper examined bile-duct ligation and associated vascular disturbances. It did not test human pancreatitis care.

BPC-157 after bowel resection in rats: adaptation is a specific research question

The 2009 experiment followed intestinal changes after major surgery. It does not establish treatment of short bowel syndrome in people or a general gut-health benefit.
